I often say that I met Shannon Nash’s husband Bill in order to meet Shannon. I consulted at a client site where Bill was working and then serendipitously attended a holiday party at a mutual friend’s house. I was instantly amazed, impressed and delighted by Shannon and pretty much ditched Bill for Shannon (just kidding, sorry not sorry Bill).

I wanted to get an updated bio from Shannon because I am afraid I won’t be able to do it justice. Per LinkedIn, she is “a C-suite leader with deep experience in financial operations, fundraising, M&A, strategy, compliance, contracting, governance, treasury, cash management and scaling companies for successful exits. Her extensive business operations experience includes overseeing finance, HR, IT, sales operations, legal, procurement, and business processes.”

With her deep and extensive experience, she would be an incredible board member. If you are expanding your board or replacing existing members to better reflect society, definitely look her up. She is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

If she sees a gap, she will find a way to use her experience and network to fill it. As companies were struggling with the PPP process, Shannon put together a series of articles and webinars to educate a lot of the founders and business owners who were being overlooked by the banks and the process.

Accounting Today profiled her as she discussed launching the National Society of Black CPAs whose mission is to diversify the profession and increase the number of Black CPAs. She was quoted in the article saying, “To attract and retain more Black CPAs, we must build a pipeline that begins in middle school and high school and continues through. We need to plant the seed that accounting is a viable, respectable, necessary and relevant profession.”

Back in March, she generously hosted a house party for my book and invited many of her friends and colleagues. We had a frank and authentic conversation about all things midlife as we sipped sparkling wine and noshed on tasty treats. I will never forget her generosity in opening her home to me.

Shannon is the mother of three boys and I honestly don’t know how she does all that she does. She inspires me with how she gives back to the community and the causes she is passionate about, her impressive professional expertise and knowledge, and her commitment to her self, her family, and her friends. And Bill, too.
